This Chopard Mille Miglia has a careful balance of the elements you’d expect from a racing-inspired chronograph and understated dress watch, done in a way that only Chopard can do. Founded in 1860, Chopard is one of the last private family-owned brands, known for its innovative spirit and firmly rooted classical design language.

Chopard has been the official corporate sponsor of the famous motorsport endurance race since 1988 and has produced a continuous line of Mille Miglia watches since partnering with the race. The Mille Miglia range of watches has gone on to become Chopard’s most well-known range and one of the most iconic watches, period.

This Mille Miglia Chronograph, reference 168331-3002, was produced between 1990-1999 and features a white-silver metallic dial with a perlage finish across the dial. The dial sub-registers have an engine-turned circular pattern providing a subtle contrast against the metallic dial.

On first glance it might appear to be more of a dress watch, but on closer inspection one notices the signs of the sporting nature of the watch. The first is the tyre-tread strap made from a supple black rubber that provides unmatched comfort on the wrist. The next sign is the inner tachymetric scale that can be used to measure speed at the race track. It’s all punctuated by the Mille Miglia race logo on the dial at 3 o’clock.

With a width of 39mm and thickness of 12mm, the watch easily slips under the cuff as a formal piece and is sized appropriately for more casual and sporty engagements.

The watch is powered by the ETA calibre 2894-2 with custom Chopard rotor, 42-hour power reserve, quick-set date, bi-directional winding, 37 jewels, automatic winding system and chronograph function. The movement is one of the true ‘workhorses’ of watchmaking, known for its time-tested reliability and ease of repair. 

The watch is in worn but good condition, showing obvious signs of wear but no serious impact marks. The watch had a complete service by Chopard in 2019 and comes with the accompanying service warranty certificate.
