Description

This Rolex GMT-Master II “Coke”, reference 16710, is a watch with serious personality. 5-digit Rolexes fall into neo-vintage category of watches which have exploded in popularity in recent years, and this particular piece is an excellent example of what makes them so captivating.

The watch comes from the pre 2010’s era where Rolex made cases in much more wearable - for the average person - case dimensions, with a case diameter of 40mm and thickness of 12mm, making it sit low, flat and flush on the wrist – a real pleasure to wear. It’s worth noting that the “Coke” bezel has never been available on the later/current ceramic versions of the GMT-Master II, so if you want a GMT-Master II with a coke bezel this is your only choice.

The watch is fitted on a full-length 13-link Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp.

Powering the watch is the Rolex calibre 3185 with independently-set GMT hand, hacking-seconds, bi-directional automatic winding and Breguet overcoil hairspring + microstella regulation screws ensuring excellent timekeeping. Known for its incredible reliability, it’s a movement that brings a sense of comfort, knowing that it has stood the test of time and will safely continue to do so for decades to come.

Accessories

The watch comes as a complete set with box, papers and manuals. Hailwood Peters can confirm that this is a watch with one-owner provenance making this an extremely rare find. A copy of the original tax refund receipt from when the owner bought it in Athens, Greece in 2003 is also included with the watch.

And as if that wasn’t good enough, to top if off the watch had a complete service by Rolex Sydney in October 2016 at a cost of $990 and the accompanying service card and copies of the paperwork is included with the watch.

Condition

The watch is preserved in superb condition, showing only very light signs of wear on the case and bracelet.

Warranty

Hailwood Peters provides a one-year warranty on the watch.
