Description
For your consideration is this rare and attractive A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin, a truly individualistic watch where no two dials and no two models are the same. Staring at the watch is like staring deep into the galaxy. The starry dial is made from silver and finished with a dark-blue gold flux that sparkles as the watch moves around on your wrist (be sure to see the video below, pictures don’t do it justice). It’s all housed in a 6.2mm thick elegant white gold case that makes it the thinnest watch Lange has ever produced. This is a dress watch par excellence. There’s nothing on the market that will slip under a cuff quite as neatly as this timepiece. And of course, the movement. Every movement that Lange has ever produced is jaw-droppingly beautiful, and the calibre L093.1 powering this Saxonia is no exception. Visible through the sapphire display case-back, the watch displays a plethora of different hand finishes that makes the movement appear to almost pop out of the case. The main three-quarter bridge (a trademark of German watchmaking) features a Côtes de Genève stripped finish, while the bridge bevels are hand-finished using the l’anglage technique. The bridges are anodised with a nickel-copper-zinc composite, giving the bridges a golden-hue that we’ve not seen on any other movement bar those from A. Lange & Söhne. The gears are finished with a sunburst-like wavy finish, the screws are black-polished for mirror-like shine and all of the bridge jewels are housed in individual gold chatons with flame-blued screws used to hold them in place. Worth special mention, unique to this model is the highly polished finish on the teeth of the visible portions of the winding train and barrel. Last, but certainly not least, the watch’s balance bridge features a hand-engraved floral pattern that is totally unique to the watch. The watch is in excellent condition, showing only very minor signs of wear upon close inspection. The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers. The watch has been tested and inspected for performance and is in excellent working condition. Hailwood Peters guarantees the watch for authenticity.
