Description
First released in 1953, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is a true icon in the underwater world of diving watches. It has played a pivotal role in the development of the category, and was arguably the first professional grade divers watch ever released. This Blancpain Fifty Fathoms reference 5015-12840-052A carries on the legacy and is a fine example of why the Fifty Fathoms is so beloved by all watch collectors. This example comes with a titanium case that makes it surprisingly light for a watch of its size. On paper it may seem large, but the 45mm case is expertly designed to fit comfortably on and around the wrist, and can comfortably be worn on wrists small-large. As a watch made for the depths of the deep dark ocean, the watch could not possibly have a more fitting colour scheme. The deep blue of the dial and bezel is truly mesmerising, and one feels as if they’re in a sort of trance looking at it. This effect is enhanced by the two-stepped dial which features a radial sunburst finish on the inner section and a circular grained finish on the outer. The large hour indexes and hands complete with luminova luminous material make the watch ultra-legible both day and night. Powering the watch is the Blancpain in-house calibre 1315 featuring a massive 120 hour power reserve, silicon balance spring, date function and automatic winding. The movement can be viewed through the sapphire caseback and is as beautiful as it is functional. The automatic bi-directional rotor is made from solid 18k white gold. The watch is fitted with a matching blue sailcloth strap that is water resistant and extremely comfortable on the wrist. The strap is fitted with a titanium pin-buckle engraved with the “Fifty Fathoms” text.

The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers. The set also includes the original purchase receipt.
Condition
The watch is in excellent condition, showing only very minor signs of wear upon close inspection.
