Description

This IWC Mark XVIII ‘Le Petit Prince’ is a watch with a wonderfully stripped-back design made to maximise legibility and provide an elegant alternative in the pilot’s watch category while retaining all the toughness one would expect of a watch made for military applications.

This Mark XVIII features a sweeping centre seconds hand, quick-set date and screw-down locking crown helping ensure up to 60 metres of water resistance. The white text on the dial is thick and extremely well contrasted against the midnight blue dial, helping ensure easy reading in any light.

The watch has a 40mm diameter case putting it at a perfect midpoint size for men that will fit well on wrists small to large. Embossed on the caseback of the watch is aviator and author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s character Le Petit Prince. IWC has been a long-time supporter of the Fondation Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and has produced a number of Le Petit Prince editions that all feature a characteristic midnight-blue dial and engraved casebacks that add an element of wonder to the watch. This sense of wonder is a perfect fit for a watch that carries on the adventurous spirit of the early aviators.

The watch is in excellent, near-new condition, showing practically no signs of wear. The watch was purchased in May 2021 in Sydney.

The watch is fitted with an IWC brown calfskin leather strap and IWC stainless steel pin buckle.

The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers. Also included is an IWC black calf leather strap in brand-new, unworn condition.

The watch has been tested and inspected for performance and is in excellent working condition. Hailwood Peters guarantees the watch for authenticity. The watch is covered by IWC’s 8-year extended warranty until May 2029.
