Description
For your consideration is this Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, a rare and iconic chronograph timepiece that should be part of any serious collection. This example with steel bezel and black dial is no longer produced by Rolex, leaving this reference as your one and only choice if you desire a modern Daytona with this look. On paper this is a sports watch, but with its clean, black/white/silver design and 40mm case it transcends above any one category, and can be worn in any setting. This particular version of the 116520 features the so-called "skinny hands" that were only produced for four years before Rolex begun using the "fat" hands on all Daytona's. These "skinny hands" were also used on the earlier Daytona references from the 90's and are preferred by many collectors. Other features include running small seconds, luminescent hour markers and hands, screw-down crown, screw-down pushers and water resistance up to 100 metres. The watch is powered by the Rolex calibre 4130 featuring bi-directional automatic winding, Parachrom hairspring, hacking seconds, 72-hour power reserve and chronograph function with minute/hour counters. The watch is fitted on a solid stainless-steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock folding clasp.
