Description

For your consideration is this extremely rare Rolex Sea-Dweller from 1978. It's mind-blowing that such a well-preserved four-digit example from the 70's still exists. Obviously, watch collecting wasn't even a thing back then, so you'd expect anything still around to be completely smashed up. As such, we're very pleased to offer such a fine example of this legendary timepiece to our clients.

The solid stainless-steel case features a gas-escape valve on the side of the case and is fitted with its original aluminium bezel insert. It's coupled with Rolex's patented triple-lock crown which helps ensure up to 610 metres of water-resistance, making this not only an extraordinarily collectable timepiece but also a serious piece of diving kit.

The watch is fitted on its original stainless-steel Oyster bracelet with solid links, Oysterlock folding clasp and matching date-code. The clasp features a diver’s extension system that can be used when wearing the watch around a wetsuit.

The watch is in excellent condition commensurate with its age. The case appears to be in unpolished condition with a thick profile and all the original case contours present and well defined. 

The original tritium hands and dial are all original, and display a beautiful even patina on both the hands and lume plots. 

The watch comes with its original box, manuals and hang tags.
