Description

For your consideration is this Tudor Black Bay, a particularly rare and captivating version of this watch that was in production for less than a year. What sets it apart from later models is its so-called “smiley” dial and black rose engraving on the crown. It also features a flat-link bracelet (as opposed to the faux rivet design found on later models) which some collectors prefer.

It’s a simple, tough and highly legible timepiece built for everyday wear. It does what it sets out to do, and does so to an extreme level. It offers so much value for money that it almost has no competition in its market segment.

Looking straight onto the watch one sees almost entirely matte and brushed steel surfaces. When looking at the sides of the watch we see the opposite; almost entirely highly polished steel surfaces. While most watches have a mix of brushed and polished steel surfaces across the watch, we really enjoy this straightforward approach to finishing that reduces the visual noise and soothes the eye.

The uni-directional rotating matte-black bezel has a 60-minute graduated disc, enabling one to set the bezel with absolute precision. 

The watch has just had a complete service by Tudor and is backed by their two-year service warranty until July 2025. Paperwork from the service is also provided with the watch.

The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers.

Condition

The watch is in superb restored condition, with only very minor signs of wear visible upon close inspection.

Warranty

The manufacturer’s service warranty is valid until July 2025.
