Description

This Tudor Black Bay Bronze was launched in 2019 and has been a standout in Tudor’s range ever since. The watch’s all matte appearance gives it a very comfortable all-round appearance with no shiny surfaces jumping out at you. The solid bronze case is built like a tank and has a screw-down crown helping ensure up to 200 metres of water resistance.

The slate-grey dial has a vignette-like effect as it fades to black around the circumference of the dial, giving the watch an enhanced sense of depth.

The uni-directional rotating slate-grey bezel has a 60-minute graduated disc, enabling one to set the bezel with absolute precision. Seriously, this is a far better system than that found on Rolex bezels.

You might have noticed from the photos that the caseback is a different colour to the surrounding case, and with good reason. The caseback on the watch is in made from bronze-coloured steel that is PVD-treated. As the caseback is the part of the watch most in contact with the skin, it makes sense to use a material that will oxidise at a much slower rate than bronze.

The watch is fitted with a slate grey fabric strap with bronze buckle. On first glance it appears to be a NATO strap, but is in fact quite different. This strap design retains the safety feature which makes NATO straps so great, which is to say that if one of the spring bars on the strap breaks the watch won’t fly off your wrist. However, where a NATO strap doubles back underneath the watch twice, this strap only does so once, helping the watch sit lower on the wrist and thus resolving a common NATO strap grievance.

Powering the watch is the in-house Tudor calibre MT5601 featuring automatic winding, hacking seconds and 70-hour power reserve. The watch has been certified as a Swiss Chronometer by independent testing body COSC, ensuring superb timekeeping performance.

The watch is in worn but very good condition, showing light signs of wear and oxidation to the bronze consistent with its age. Wearing a bronze watch is a long-term project; its patina will change over time to match your wearing habits.

The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers.

The watch has been tested and inspected for performance and is in excellent working condition. Hailwood Peters guarantees the watch for authenticity. The original manufacturer’s warranty is valid until November 2025.
